Unless you're one of the few lucky ones that lives within Huasteca, you're going to need to travel here. The easiest way here is to fly and hire a car at the airport but for those who on a budget or looking for a adventure, road tripping or taking a bus will certainly earn you some stories!

By Plane

Flying to Huasteca is the easier option than driving or taking a bus. You will still need to hire a car once you arrive but If the cost is not an issue, this is for you.

The main airport close to Huasteca is General Mariano Escobedo International Airport (MTY). It is located about 45 minutes north east of Huasteca in the metropolis of Monterrey – the second largest and wealthiest city in Mexico. The airport’s address is: Carretera Miguel Alemán Km. 24, Monterrey, Nuevo León, 66600, Mexico

Getting From The Airport to Your Accommodation

Once at the airport, there are a number of options for getting to your accommodation. Public transport or renting a car. The airport is the easiest and cheapest place rent a car. As for public transport, the taxi drivers in Mexico know the area extremely well but don't generally speak much English. It's best to show them the address written down to ensure you get to the correct destination.

RENT A CAR

Renting a car in Mexico is the same as any place else. You can rent a car upon your arrival at the airport, but you will normally get a better price by booking in advance online. You can hire a car for as little as $45USD for a week depending on what company you use. It's STRONGLY recommended to get full coverage insurance as Monterrey has one of the highest traffic accident rates in the world!

PUBLIC TRANSPORT

If you choose to take public transport to you accommodation, there are several taxi companies and shuttle buses to choose from. Many hostels also offer pickup services. The average price for these services are 300-500 pesos depending distance (zone).

GETTING TO HUASTECA

Getting to Huasteca is best done by taking the highways that surround the city. Most of the Hostels in the city are located close to highway 40 which you can take West until you can cross the river onto Route 20. Follow this west to the park which is well sign posted as "La Huasteca".
